Just wanted to pass on the info Jay and Chris just passed onto me.
Apparently there are like 30+ cops on Nebo today pulling over EVERY SINGLE BIKE and booking them for EVERYTHING.
They are doing noise tests and booking people with fender eliminators and whatever else they can.
I didn't have any problems because they couldn't catch me, but for the rest of you slow noob riders it could be an issue. Razzb |

Yeh as Cat said, it was the biggest operation I have seen up there in 7 years.
I knew it was going to happen, just a matter of time.
There was no way anyrider could of outrun them, them road was blocked
from both directions too and from the cafe. 1 road block set up at the
T heading down the samford and the other at the first lookout heading
south to nebo which is where the operation was.
I had put my bike back to stock including indicators and standard rear guard and pipe. So I thought I was in the clear.
I even got noise tested it came up at 94db...
then asked what I done to modify it... a BIG WTF. (label on the fram
says 88db) They wern't even sure if was a yamah pipe, though after
showing them the stamped name on the end it was agreed.
But saying that even though it said yamaha, and if the sound output was higher than 94db ( for my 01 R1 ) it would not be legal.
The pipes that were defected were all Yoshi's, I seen a few Micron pipes that passed, though I left after a while.
So you can have an aftermarket pipe, you have just gotta stay with in
the noise limit of 94db. But newer bikes can go up to 100db, if only I
could find an exact definition.
Fender eliminators and indicators were also hit as well.
Was only a matter of time.... |

Pipes i can understandthem blitzing because of the noise.....tiny indicators as well, because you can see the fkn things.
but fender elimnators? how do they hurt anyone? |

The
fact is that cops want riders off the mountain so they are going to
keep doing this to get what they want. I agree, fender eliminators do
not hurt anyone, but they are illegal, therefore the coppers are using
that to their advantage.
Unfortunately I don't see this problem going away for a little while. |

Another case of the minority ruining something everyone.
Guess it was going to happen sooner or later. Will this just mean everyone will start going to a different place?
Moving the problem around isn't really going to solve anything. |

| just
saw a quick story about it on channel 9 news. Nothing too exciting
except the coppers saying that they would be coming back 'until the
problem goes away'. |

Good
old Channel Nine. Until what problem goes away? Riders crashing on
Nebo/Glorious? Shit, that's been going on for years, and a few tickets
for hacked-off plastic pooper-scoopers isn't gonna stop it!
Last time they had a big blitz up there was after a few off-duty
coppers speared off the road and into trees or splatted themselves into
oncoming traffic. Three in two weeks or something silly like that. It
was about three or four years ago now. People were saying that bikes
would be banned from the Mountain, etc etc blah blah crap crap...
Police "enforcement" re: riders is a bit political a.t.m. because of
the current crash stats (bikes are high). Questions have been asked in
Parliament. After the end of the year, it'll all die down because we'll
be in a new statistical period and the pollies will forget about it. By
March or April things will most likely be back to normal again.
